KYOTO TOKYU HOTEL opens Chinese Restaurant "STAR HILL"

adding new social scene for Chinese Dining

Kyoto (October 1,2008) - Kyoto Tokyu Hotel announces the grand opening of Chinese Restaurant "STAR HILL" set on the lobby level of the hotel.

"STAR HILL" will be waiting for the visit of city dwellers and hotel guests with a menu of wide selection of traditional Chinese dishes, flavors from four major regions of China; Beijing, Shanghai, Guandong and Sichuan, additionally with Star Hill's original dishes created combining different kinds of food cultures of the world.

Kitaoji Rosanjin was one of the most important ceramists in 20th century of Japan, and also famous as a fine cook. In 1921 he founded the Bishoku Club (Gourmet's Club), which became a private restaurant, and in 1925 Rosanjin opened the well-known Hoshigaoka Restaurant (Hoshigaoka Saryo) in Tokyo.
Chinese Restaurant "STAR HILL" was born in the Capitol Tokyu Hotel where Hoshigaoka Saryo used to be.(Capitol Tokyu Hotel now waits for its reopening in 2010.)
Following the spirit of Rosanjin, "STAR HILL" continues to strive after the cuisine which makes the most of every conscientiously selected ingredients and materials, bringing out their flavors.

"STAR HILL" features monotone decor; based on the walls covered with white "shikkui ", with blackish brown of woody portion, oxidized silver of "kawara" Japanese roof tiles and white of "shoji" Japanese paper panel doors which are as in traditional constructions in historical city of Kyoto.
The contrast of these colors makes the dishes and the diners look as beautiful as possible.

"STAR HILL" offers patrons the sophisticated food in 72 seats with three private rooms providing ideal space for any kind of gatherings, from friendly casual dining to special business meetings..

"STAR HILL" will be open daily for lunch and dinner, from 11:30 to 14:30(Last order at 14:00) and from 17:00 to 22:00(Last order at 21:30).
